Planning for a New Roof? Gather These Details First!

Welcome to 2020 - a new year, a new decade! To our recurring customers, associates and friends, we thank you for your continued business and support. And if you are new to our site, we’re glad you stopped by and hope to provide you with good information, ideas, and tips.

So, January is a month that many folks start planning and budgeting for the ongoing expenses of operating, repairing and maintaining a home. And this just might be the year you need to replace your roof. If so, congratulations! Your home is an asset and keeping it in good shape and strong will maintain and/or improve its value.

Now before you call us, you might want to do a little homework first. This information will give us an idea of your needs, expectations and budget. We created a list of questions you should try to answer, but if you have no clue on some of them don’t stress about it, we’ll get some answers when we come out to give you an estimate. Here you go:

• When was your home built?
• What is the square footage of your home?
• Have you looked inside your attic to see if there are visible issues with structure or decking?
• When was your current roof installed – do you have your home improvement records to see how long ago the roof was replaced or reshingled.
• Is there an existing warranty on your roof?
• What type year shingles were used? 10 year? 20 - 30 ? 50 year?
• Have you had any roof leaks? When were they repaired, and by whom?
• Do you have some ideas yet on types of shingles, color, style? (Again, if you haven’t don’t worry we’ll talk about some options with you)
• Are you working with a budget? Will you be financing your new roof? (We can recommend a couple of great companies to help you finance)
• What is your time frame; is this somewhat urgent or are you just planning ahead?

We understand a new roof is an expensive investment but please, please don’t base your
decision on who you hire solely on price. Your roof is the most important protection against
rain, wind and whatever else Mother Nature throws at us.

Speaking of Mother Nature, it was just this past October that we were hit with several
tornadoes in our area. A recent article in AL.com reported that Washington County in southwest
Alabama has been under more tornado warnings during the past 10 years than any other county in
the nation. This just reinforces the fact that you need to invest in a strong, durable roof against a
possible tornado strike. Also, a good roof also impacts the appeal of your home if you think you
might be selling in the not too distant future.

We hope this is a good starting point for you if you are considering a new roof for your home.
And remember we are properly licensed, and for your insurance purposes we meet Fortified

Roof TM standards. Our roofing systems include ice and water shield protection; we have a long-
term warranty, and we guarantee the best price.

So what’s not to love? Give us a call (251-655-1958). We’ll come to your home, inspect your
roof, do an assessment, install a strong, durable, and beautiful roof, and then you can check
this off your “2020 To Do List”!
